Is this a good Combination?
My racket now is a Prince Triple Threat Scream OS. My string bed is a full Prince Syth. Gut w/ duraflex 16g at 62 lbs.
I want to try the Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour 16g since a lot of people say it has more access to spin, which i would like more control on my heavy topspin.
I was thinking about doing the Babolat PHT 16g in the mains and the Prince Synth. Gut 16g in the crosses, all at around 60 lbs.
Is this a good combo, and should i keep my tension at 62 or should i drop it a couple pounds?
Thanks Coach Pam, i never realized higher tension meant more control, i always thought it was the opposite. I think it’s pretty bad i didn’t know that considering i am on the Varsity Tennis Team at my school. And i am not a frequent string breaker, and i guess you could say i am higher mid, lower advanced player. And i like the forgiveness of a OS racket because i play very erratic with my movement on the court, so i can’t hit every ball with perfect poise or precision, the 108-110 head size gives me the assurance that i can play the way i normally do, without having to worry about mis-hitting to badly.
I’m not a fan of over-size racquet’s in most situations however, that’s what you have so lets work with it. A few questions – 1. Do you breaking a lot of strings? 2. Are you an advanced player or beginner? 3. Do you have professional coaching?
If you are not breaking strings often, then stick with the syn gut, it’s cheaper than Hurricane and if you are an advanced player, you will notice that the syn gut gives better ‘feel" on the ball than the Hurricane does. If You are a beginner with heaps of cash I suppose it doesn’t matter. If you have a coach, he will suggest a string combo suitable for your game – if he’s any good anyway. Re getting more control on your shots, remember when getting a re-string that the mid tension gives you a bit of power and some control but getting higher tension reduces your power but adds more control. Going lower than mid tension gives you more power but less control. Got it?
Anyone heard of the Head Agassi Oversize XL racquet?
Anyways, I have this racquet and I actually like it. It’s not exactly oversize. It’s actually midplus with a 100 size head. It has this "vibration control system" which is kind of like the new Head ISD in its early stages. It has twin tube construction (I think that’s what its called) and has "constant beam construction", which means its probably a titanium racquet. Anyone ever used this racquet? Or even heard of it?
Also, it’s 2 points head light. Really nice control racquet. I use this as a backup for my Babolat Aero Storm.
Never heard of it. What I do know is that Head never names their main racquets after players. Agassi used the Radical MidPlus I believe. I am guessing that the Head Agassi Oversize XL was meant to be sold in Wal-mart, Modells, Sports Authority or any other local sports equipment store. Chances are the racquet is garbage. Any racquet that is oversized is garbage. I have not once used an oversized racquet and enjoyed hitting with it.
is my prince tennis racket fake?
i bought a prince air-o hybrid comp os(not the o3 hybrid comp mp) from big 5 yesterday and i tried to find stuff online about it but there nothing on this racket can anyone help me out on this?
Huge retail chains, like Big 5 often have the buying power to have manufacturers make a slightly different "private edition" version for sale only in their stores. This is likely the case here.
Good hitting!
