Is 110 sq. inches an okay racket head size for an intermediate tennis player?

I still have my oversize 110 sq. in. racket, and all my buddies are starting to get ones in smaller head sizes. I can still play right there with them, but I feel a tad self-conscious about having an oversized racket. I really don’t want to buy another racket, but is buying a smaller racket inevitable for an intermediate player?
Thanks for any and all answers.

I own a tennis store, www.justtennis.net and I advise people on how to judge racquets. There are two important criteria for a racquet:

The first is: do you like to hit with it. Does it feel comfortable? Does it feel too heavy or too light? If you don’t like it, for any reason (even the color), move on.

Second, and VERY IMPORTANT is the racquet’s power. You want the right amount of power, not too much and not too little. When you take a hard swing, you should not feel tentative, you should not feel that the ball is going all over the place. You should feel confident that the ball is going powerfully right to the opposing baseline.

After that all else is up to you. What makes a racquet more powerful? It’s simple, the lower the swingweight, the faster you swing, the faster the racquet meets the ball, and the faster the ball goes off the racquet head.

What does this have to do with a 110" racquet head? The bigger heads can be made lighter and more powerful. So generally a 110" head is more powerful than a smaller head. Also with a smaller head there is less string movement and therefore more control; but you can put a stiff poly in a 110 racquet to handle that. Remember some guy named Agassi; he won all his matches with a 107 Head Radical Oversize. Ever hear of some Englishg guy names Murray, he was playing with the same 107 as Agassi until a year ago when he switched to a 98.

Looking for the name of an artist?

One image in particular is a painting of a young girl on a tricycle – it’s mainly in sepia and red tones – it’s surreal, modern art, – also is kind of creepy and disturbing – she has a massively oversized head and big eyes – I think there might be a rabbit in the painting too – I have done a search on every conceivable thing and turned up nothing – any ideas?

That sounds like Mark Ryden. He uses big-headed, big-eyed children. Very creepy. He did a series called "Bunnies and Bees" back in 2001. One painting, "Jessica’s Hope," has a young girl sitting in a wheelchair being pulled by a pink bunny. Another painting, "Little Boy Blue," has a toddler boy in a pink Nazi outfit riding a tricycle.

Anybody have pics or ideas for head table??

I am wanting to get vases for my bridesmaids to put their bouquets in…I have 9 bridesmaids so it would be a great way to decorate the entire head table…have any of you done this and would have a picture to let me know how it would look? And then like in between every other vase, I wanted to get those oversized martini glasses and fill it with crystals and maybe put a floating candle or something in them…would this be too much going on on the table?

I did the vases for my wedding, I had 9 bridesmaids too! It looked great! I did big martini glasses too, but I put them on the bars and filled them with matches. I think the flowers should be enough for your head table. I also put votive candles in between them for a little extra! Have Fun!!!!
