High-quality Tennis Raquets difficult to use for newbies?

<< Gated Intracoastal Community  Prince Tour DB Oversize Tennis Racket, Syngut Duraflex, 4 1/4 >>

My father has a Prince Vortex Oversize racket from back in the day, which cost him a pretty number.

I usually use a cheap $30 dollar racket that serves me very well, but I’ve been itching to use his racket. The problem is that I can’t use it!!

Keep note that he’s never restrung it in the past 10 years, never really cared for it at all.
But it is like using a .44 magnum, it’s just so powerful, everything I hit always goes long (like flat but wayy long, I hit the other player at the base line). It feels so smooth, I barely feel the impact. It is quite heavy though.

I was wondering, is this racket difficult for me to use because I’m a beginner? Or has racket technology improved in the past 10 years to the point that the light little $30 racket is comarable to the $200 plus monster?
Perhaps, I need to restring it (what happens if you don’t?)?

But most importantly, as a 2.0 rate player, should I practice with it? Or is it just too advanced for me??

Probably because you’re a beginner and doesn’t know how to control your power just yet. The more you play, the better you’ll get to know the racket. As you’re comfortable with it, you will know how to control your shots. If you’re still not comfortable with it, tennis warehouse has a great demo program. Check it out -> http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/demoprogram.html You can demo a bunch of rackets and find one that fits you. Good luck :)
