Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is an upcoming video game being developed by EA’s Bright Light Studio and published by Electronic Arts. It is going to release on June 30, 2009, coinciding with the film’s new mid-2009 release date.The game will be released on Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360, and Mobile platforms.

Return to Hogwarts to help Harry survive his sixth year. You will have a chance to engage in exciting wizard duels, mix magical ingredients in potion class and take to the air as the Seeker of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. You may even get sidetracked by Ron’s romantic entanglements as journey torwards a dramatic climax and discover the identity of the Half-Blood Prince.

Plot:

Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.

Game Trailer Oficial – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Devido a problemas com a greve de roteiristas de 2007, a Warner Bros. resolveu adiar a estreia do sexto filme estrelado pelo famoso personagem criado pela escritora J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter e o Enigma do Príncipe. O estúdio do Pernalonga moveu então o filme de novembro de 2008 para julho de 2009, causando a ira de milhares de fãs ansiosos pela nova aventura. E o jogo licenciado, claro, também acompanhou a mudança para não perder a publicidade do longa e não estragar as surpresas para aqueles que conhecem o universo de Rowling apenas pelo cinema.

Ao menos o adiamento deu mais tempo para o estúdio EA Bright Light aperfeiçoar as várias novidades do game. A mecânica é parecida com Harry Potter e a Ordem da Fênix, com um ambiente aberto para exploração em terceira pessoa, nos mesmos moldes da série Grand Theft Auto. É necessário descobrir os vários segredos de Hogwarts e completar missões que seguem a trama do filme, que se foca na preparação de Harry para o confronto final com o temível Voldemort e a descoberta de segredos que podem enfraquecê-lo.

O pacote também inclui vários modos extras com suporte a multiplayer, como partidas de Quadribol, que receberam influência do clássico Pilotwings e pedem ao jogador que siga um caminho específico pelo cenário em alta velocidade. Há também minigames de alquimia, em que se torna necessário criar várias fórmulas mágicas para os mais variados fins – tudo com muito cuidado, pois alguns componentes podem ser muito voláteis e podem causar explosões ou efeitos indesejados.

Os duelos também ganham uma grande importância aqui, com combates repletos de raios e efeitos para todos os lado. Entre esquivas e ataques genéricos, os fãs podem contar com encantos bem reconhecíveis como o Protego, que serve para rebater magias, ou Levicorpus, que vira o oponente de cabeça para baixo. Vários personagens famosos da mitologia de Rowling estão à disposição, como Hermione, Weasley, Voldemort, Snape e Dumbledore.
